“My Walk to Emmaus was in October of 2004. That year was a most stressful one for my family; my mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer's and had fallen several times and was hospitalized most of the summer. My father-in-law had a massive stroke in February and died in August of that year. Going back and forth from East Tennessee (where my mother was) to Jackson, MS where my in-laws lived kept me busy. I did not think I had time to do another thing; but thanks be to God, I participated in the October walk. The Walk to Emmaus was definitely a highlight of the year for me. I received encouragement and refreshment. God worked through these days to challenge and enrich me. I was reminded of God's call on my life. I was reminded once again of God's love, His grace and His forgiveness. I was able to hear the Holy Spirit whisper my name in the quietness of the evenings.
